E Nani i ka Lani
composed by Barbara Dempsey

This song is a gentle journey into love, light, and shared breath. It invites two souls to take each other’s hand and travel together beneath the warmth of the stars, where the world grows lighter and the heart grows brighter. As their connection deepens, their inner light awakens, revealing that happiness is found right here—in the presence of love.

E nānā i ka lani pō. (Look to the night sky)

I nā hōkū liʻiliʻi e mālamalama nei. (At the little stars that are shining)

Ke hīmeni nei lāko,  i ka hauʻoli liʻiliʻi  (They are singing of a gentle happiness)

E nānā i ka lani pō. (Look to the night sky)

E like me kākou, nā hōkū ʻole inoa. (Like us, the nameless stars)

Ke pule nei lākou no ka hauʻoli liʻiliʻi. (They are praying for a quiet happiness)

Verse English

Hold my hand, stay with me,  (E paʻa i koʻu lima, noho pū,)
We’ll wonder where the stars are warm,  (E huakaʻi i kahi wela nā hōkū,)

And as our breathing falls in sync (A i ko kākou hanu e ʻae pū,)

Chorus: Hawaiian:

E paʻa i koʻu lima, noho pū, (Hold my hand, stay with me,)

E huakaʻi i kahi wela nā hōkū, (Let us journey where the stars are warm)

A i ko kākou hanu e ʻae pū,  (And as our breaths agree as one)

E lilo ka honua i māmā loa.  (The world will become light and gentle)

A laila hū mai ka mālamalama. (Then the light will rise)

Rising from the depths of our heart (Mai loko mai o ko kākou naʻau)

Aia nō ka hauʻoli ma ʻaneʻi (For happiness is here)

Ke pili mau kāua i ke aloha. (When we remain joined in love)

Verse:

E nānā i ka lani pō. (Look to the night sky,)

I nā hōkū liʻiliʻi e mālamalama nei. (to the tiny stars shining there)

Ke pule nei lākou no ka hauʻoli liʻiliʻi  (They are praying for a little joy)
